12:15 – 1:30 p.m. Closing Luncheon
A Family Speaks: Gene Steuerle and Lynne Steuerle Schofield

Gene Steuerle along with his two daughters Lynne Steuerle Schofield and Kristin Steuerle Swanson started Our Voices Together to remember and honor their wife and mother who died in the September 11 tragedy. Our Voices Together is a network that seeks to promote the vital role of people-to-people efforts to help build better, safer lives and futures around the world. The organizations in the network have generated good from tragedy by building schools in Afghanistan, clinics in Uganda, homes in Latin America and in many other ways make a positive difference as living memorials to those they lost.

1:00 – 6:00 p.m. Outdoor Excursion: Experience Colorado

What better way to cap off your 2008 National Conference than by joining fellow attendees for an outdoor adventure led by Phoenix Multisport, a Boulder-based nonprofit founded by ASF next generation member Scott Strode of The Woods Charitable Foundation.

Rock climbing – Beginners welcome!
Denver offers easy access to one of the most well-loved top rope climbing areas in the state – Table Mountain or “The Golden Cliffs.” To access the climbs, we’ll hike uphill for 15-20 minutes to a beautiful view of downtown Denver. There, Phoenix Multisport team members and staff will orient us, and we’ll have the opportunity to climb multiple routes of varying degrees of difficulty. Anyone wanting to watch, but not climb, is welcome!

Hiking

Together with team members and staff from Phoenix Multisport, we’ll visit a scenic nearby park offering a variety of easy to strenuous trails. Depending on the size of the group, we may split up, with some going on a longer, more challenging hike, and others enjoying a leisurely stroll.

Please note
Details are subject to change based on registration numbers and weather. All participants will receive a detailed list of what to bring in advance of the conference.

About Phoenix Multisport
Phoenix Multisport fosters a supportive, physically active community for individuals who are recovering from substance abuse and those that choose to live a sober life. Through pursuits such as climbing, hiking, running, swimming, road and mountain biking, and other activities, they seek to help their members develop and maintain the emotional strength they need to stay sober. The active community that is created by Phoenix Multisport provides the opportunity for addicts to redefine themselves as athletes.
