Are you losing money without knowing it? Learn how to assess what’s important, why it’s important, and strategies to accomplish foundation investment goals.

Who should attend? Donors, trustees and staff who would like to begin learning investment terminology and policies.

Topics include:

  • Explanation of asset classes and terms
  • Importance and components of a sound Investment Policy Statement
  • How to divide duties and decision-making around investments
  • Working with managers and consultants
  • Understanding fees

Investments: Beyond the Basics
December 5

Walk away with a better understanding of how your foundation is doing in terms of process, investment return, and governance, and locate at least one area where you may be able to save or make money.

Who should attend? Donors, trustees and staff with a solid knowledge of investment terms and concepts.

Topics include:

  • Clarifying the context and consequences of the US mortgage crisis
  • Risk management and asset allocation
  • Alternative investments
  • How to fine-tune the degree and timing of board involvement
  • Indexology - Understanding and applying common benchmarking techniques and passive investment strategies

ATTENDEE GUIDELINES
This program is open to trustees and staff of grantmaking foundations. If you are not a member of ASF or Southeastern Council of Foundations and would like to attend the program, please first call ASF to confirm eligibility.

All ASF programs are a non-solicitation environment.


PHOTO RELEASE
ASF will, from time to time, use photographs/video of program attendees in its promotional materials. All attendees of ASF events acknowledge that they may be photographed/videotaped by ASF or its official photographer/videographer while at the event and that the photographs/video may be used in future print and electronic promotional materials. If you do not wish your likeness to be used in this way, please contact asf@smallfoundations.org or (888) 212-9922 within 48 hours of conclusion of the event.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Substitutions are accepted at any time. Cancellations 5 weeks in advance of the program are subject to a $75 processing fee. Cancellations received between 3 to 5 weeks in advance of the program will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations within 3 weeks of the program are non-refundable.

Each seminar or other event sponsored by ASF is open exclusively to foundation trustees and staff in good standing with ASF, and the attendance of all other parties shall be within the sole discretion of ASF. Attendance at ASF seminars or events is not automatic and/or guaranteed until ASF confirms a member's good standing and thereafter confirms its or their right to attend in writing.
