Making the Most of an Investment Committee
Executive Director Colleen O’Keefe is busy with day-to-day financial tasks. She relies on the foundation’s Finance/Investment Committee as a key part of the foundation’s checks and balances. The committee members are chosen from the larger board, and unless making a major change, they make day-to-day decisions, report back to the 13-person board, and meet with the foundation’s financial manager at least twice a year. Since not all trustees have a background in finance, this group of trusted experts frees the board (and staff) to focus on other duties.
