ASF will host its Next Generation Retreat on October 6 in San Francisco prior to its 2012 National Conference. Join us in the fun, inspiring environment of The Hub for a rare opportunity to learn and connect with other next generation foundation peers. Explore values, generational personalities, and make action plans for your foundation.

Success Stories from Previous Next Generation Retreats

“The ASF Next Generation Retreat helped spark my family to start an associate board, which includes third generation family members. As I write this, I am in Allentown, PA meeting with the associate board to review grant proposals in a “mock” environment. We will also be sitting in with our parents and the foundation board tomorrow. We will get to see the real decisions being made and give our own input.”

“Because of ideas I heard from other Next Gen members, we now have a letter of intent by our founder and a way to bring all our members together for our annual board meeting in spite of the fact that we are so far apart!”

“As the eldest member of my family’s fourth generation, I have been able to connect and network with a number of interesting and motivated individuals with similar backgrounds. This has provided an exciting opportunity to see how other families are involving younger generations. Additionally, I have benefited from exchanging new ideas for strategic grant-making through my work with my ASF peers.”

“The workshops and discussion groups have made me a better funder and I have been able to bring many of the tools I’ve gained to our entire board. I really enjoyed the exercise where each generation looked at significant world events during our lifetimes and how those may have shaped our giving philosophies.”
